Free Will
There is one thing we have all been given. We have free will. We get to choose things for ourselves. We get to choose our thoughts. We get to choose what we say. We get to choose how we interpret our lives. Not everyone realizes that they are making choices in how they think, with what they say, and how they see their lives. I didn’t always understand what I was choosing on the inside.
It’s interesting to watch how my thoughts dictate how I feel in my day. My responses can give me a stronger faith. Knowing what I want to do and making the effort to accomplish those things day after day requires a disciplined mindset. I’ve learned over time that when I stay focused correctly and do the little things required on a regular basis, I can achieve great things.
Everyone makes their own choices. Everyone gets into their own routine. Because everyone has free will, I’ve learned that it’s not my place to impose what I want on someone else. I get to choose what I want and they get to choose what they want. Everyone needs to do what is inside of them to do. I’ve learned to accept that as having respect for another person’s right to be who they are.
I think when I was younger, I wanted my parents to be a certain way for me. That was really selfish. As I got older, I learned that they get to make their choices and I get to make mine. It was an interesting transition because when I was a baby, I depended on them for everything and needed them to teach me how to be in the world. And they taught me what they knew.
In everyday in every way there are blessings in our lives. When we look for them we will find them and that is the greatest joy. Making the most of what life brings and making decisions based in how you want to think and where you want to go and what you really want to do is one of the gifts that our free will gives us. We can be better. We can do great things. We have free will to do it.
