No Social Distancing at Riots?

I was on a Zoom call earlier and somebody mentioned that people involved in the riots weren’t social distancing. We laughed. It was an interesting observation. Considering that everyone has been sheltered and businesses have been shut down all over the world, I would think that protesters and rioters would practice social distancing. I mean isn’t that our new normal?
Maybe, in the heat of emotions, people aren’t concerned about being sick or getting sick when they’re just really mad. I guess reason and respect for others and authority just go out the window when a crowd gets enraged. It could be that our new normal hasn’t changed some things. I heard that quite a few small businesses got really hurt from damage done to their store fronts. That is sad.
I find it odd that when protests get out of the control, the people who are there to “fight injustice” are doing injustice to other people whose property they are looting or setting on fire. There is something hypocritical about that. For some people, having a different story in the news other than Covid-19 was a welcome break. For businesses that were anticipating opening and getting back to work, this was another set back.
This too shall pass and then there will be another breaking story in the news. I hope you’re staying safe and things are going well for you. There are a lot of good things happening. Remember to be kind and helpful to people. Most of all be grateful for the blessings in your life. We have more than we realize and it’s good to really appreciate how much is going right.
Until next time…be the light that someone needs to be able to see.
Best,
